BAKERS RACK GOING TO GOLD RUSH

   Gladness of the heart is the life of a man, and the joyfulness of the man prolongs his days.  


We will be having a booth at Gold Rush in Rochester. The event is being held on August 17, 18, 19.

Here is one thing that will be in our booth:

 This old industrial bakers rack ( or shoe rack ) that I purchased at an antique shop a few years back.

It has metal posts at the corners and four wooden dowel shelves. There is a fifth space at the bottom that can be used as storage also by using the steel beam frames. 

I am trying to create a simpler lifestyle by downsizing so I've decided to let this go. I've used it as storage in a little office I have but it really takes up too much room for the space. At the time I purchased it I had been looking for one of these for years so when I spotted it I had to have it! 

 

        It had been on the second floor of the antique shop, called The Button Factory, and had to be sent down on an old elevator. The shop is unique in that it is in a very old building that previously was a button making factory. They made pearl buttons from clam shells taken from the lake. The town sits on Lake Pepin, an enlarged area on the Mississippi River.

We have our pontoon on this lake and I've spent many years on this lake going back to when I was a child. The Mississippi River marks the dividing line between the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin. So while we live in Minnesota, when we're at the lake we can look across the river  to see the bluffs in Wisconsin.

BAKER'S RACK FOUND A NEW HOME

A while back I shared a photo of an antique Baker's Rack that I picked up at an Auction. I listed it in my Etsy Shop as "For Local Pick-Up Only".  I received an e-mail from someone in California asking if I would sell and ship to her. So I figured out how to get it done and it was on its way!

The kind new owner of the Baker's Rack sent me a photo of the Rack in its new home, now a display rack for her beautiful quilts!

Doesn't it look great in its new home? And those quilts! They are AMAZING! I just love the soft colors!

 I love it when people who have purchased something from our Etsy Shop, send us a photo of their purchase in its new home. But just getting feedback TELLING us what they did with their purchase is fun also!

VINTAGE BAKER'S RACK FOR SALE

A couple of years ago I found a vintage shoe rack or baker's rack with wooden dowels and rolling wheels. I had been looking for one ever since I saw one in a magazine. They are difficult to find! As soon as I saw it, I HAD to have it! I remember the American Picker's saying that when you see something you have been looking for, JUMP on it, it's "Picker's 101"! So I did! And I've never regretted the purchase! I love it!

 Here ( above ) I am using it for displaying some stoneware at one of our Hob Nobber Sales. It has 4 wood shelves with dowels, and the end pieces are steel. I LOVE it and use it in my office while not using it in our sales. People kept wanting to buy it at our sales so I figured I better keep looking for another one to sell. And again it took a few more years.... but I found another one!

I purchased this at an estate auction of an antique collector, one of many unique and fun items.

And this one is even nicer than  mine! It has 5 shelves and the ends are wood also. I like the "wood all-over" look! The whole thing has a wonderful patina to it! This is a vintage baker's rack with wheels. Yes, I almost kept this one for myself but I'm used to the one I now have so this one is for sale.

I now have this listed on Craigslist for local pick up and may end up listing it in my Etsy Store. So far I haven't listed anything this big on Etsy so I'm a bit hesitant. BUT if this is something you are interested in, and don't live within "pick-up range" and are interested in it, leave a comment and let me know and we could work out  the shipping arrangements. 

So what would you do with this? I've seen many ideas on Pinterest so be sure and check it out! But it could be used in the kitchen to store large stoneware bowls or other Farmhouse decor, in an office area for fun country style storage, even the living room as a focal point for your Farmhouse style decor. It would even look great in a Scandinavian Style Living room.

This is an original and getting harder all the time to find! It measures 50 inches tall, 30 inches long, and 15 inches wide. If you live within pick-up distance from Rochester, Mn, you could pick it up. Otherwise we could work out shipping details. I'm asking $275 for it.
