AUTUMN BEAUTY

You can't get too much Autumn beauty so I'm sharing this mosaic I put together a few years ago. It's a sampling of all the beauty and creativity Autumn has to offer.  I'm enjoying every little moment of this season as the seasons fly by way too quickly.

And after feasting your eyes on  these gorgeous outdoor settings, step inside and warm yourself with a cup of tea. This beautiful teapot and teacup set was handed down to me from my grandmother. She collected teacups and I have become one of the lucky recipients of her collection.

                    The orange, yellow, gold, and red colors bring such a warmth to the season.

 I've been enjoying going through my Autumn Bucket List and loving the tastes, sights, smells, and even the sounds of the season. What sounds you ask? Why the crackling of the fire while roasting marshmallows over a fire pit of course! And the cheers of a football game! To see my list go here. DECORATING WITH TARNISHED SILVER

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and 4th of July celebration! We had a fun day! My husband and son went golfing while my daughter-in-law and I took the three grandkids swimming at  the Athletic Club. Later we enjoyed a family dinner together, visited my Mom who is going through rehab after  shoulder replacement surgery, and then on to the fireworks. Being able to Skype our daughter, son-in-law, and their new adopted baby girl in China made it perfect!

 I love the look of tarnished silver. That is one of the elements I'm now gathering for  my "new style".  Tarnished silver has both a romantic and rustic look at the same time. In my "picking" for treasures I look for lovely pieces of silver that can be repurposed into something fun. Below are several ways to use tarnished silver in your decor.

This mosaic doesn't do justice to the sweet little silver cups I have but you get the idea. I MUST work on my photography skills!  And maybe a new camera?

 

Thus far I've only used some little silver cups, goblets, and creamers for small bouquets on Easter. I also planted a little evergreen tree in one which is now outgrowing it's container. I've sold several tarnished silver pitchers and pedestal plates at our sales and now will be looking for more...some for myself and some to sell. Since I've chosen tarnished silver for one of the elements in my new style, I'll be looking for lots more!

STYLE INSPIRATION BOARD

I'm defining my new style by making some inspiration boards. This is the first board I've made but didn't work out as expected because I ended up having two of the same photos. Oh well, you get the idea. I'll try again but wanted to share this for now. Some of the elements of my style are: blue/white colors, stoneware, rustic metal, pillow ticking fabric, warm natural woods, grain sack, small pops of yellow ( notice the flowers in the foyer), natural, and a casual country-feel. I'm getting there.

This weekend my husband Les and I  went to an antique auction. It was going to be an all day affair so we took our canvas chairs and our coffee and headed out. They had some wonderful items there and I bought MUCH MORE than I had anticipated I would!  Our car was packed to the brim with items we had bought but we STILL had to pick up some big pieces the next day that wouldn't fit in the car. The next day Les went to pick up the rest of the furniture and came home with two extra FREE pieces that nobody wanted! So our garage is FULL! Most of the furniture needs some TLC so I've got some work to do!

I don't attend too many auctions because they tend to be all day affairs. You have to wait until the item you want is up for bidding on and I'm too impatient to sit and wait! I want to go in, find what I want and run out. But I just might go to a few more as I found such great stuff and most at good prices. And we had lots of fun also! I wish I had thought to take my camera! Have to get into the habit of taking that thing! But then I would have forgotten to take the photos! I'll start working on that!

 My goals for this month of October are simple:  To live within the "confines of today" and enjoy its simple pleasures: Planning a tailgate picnic before the beautiful colors retreat, visiting an apple orchard with our grandkids and picking apples with which to make yummy apple crisp, picking out pumpkins and gourds from the pumpkin farm because it's more fun to buy them where they are grown, and biking one more time with my hubby on our bicycle built for two, which can be pretty scary because HE is the one in control!

I'm trying to keep Autumn in my thoughts just a bit longer. We had our first snowfall of the season so winter is approaching! It's hard to let goooooo.....

MOSAIC FOR JULY

I love making mosaics! I love playing with putting colors together and how they look when the same colors are boldly put together in one space.

 When we have our Hob Nobber sales we generally set up vignettes arranging the same colors together, sometimes even if the treasures might not "go" together. I think it makes more of an impact and really shows off the treasures simply because of the color impact. We get a lot of nice compliments on the set up of our vignettes. But of course at each new event I try to make it even better.

  I used some of my favorite colors for this mosaic and wanted to depict the colors that are in nature ( sky, flowers, ocean ) and how we use them also in the things we make. The objects themselves don't "go" together but the colors are pleasing to the eye. It makes me smile.

MAY'S MOSAIC

I had promised  a MONTHLY MOSAIC with my Big Launch and here is the one for MAY! FEAST YOUR EYES! I seem to be attracted to blue for some reason even though if you asked me I probably wouldn't say it's my favorite color. So does that mean I'm in denial about my colors?

I look for  things that feel like "dreamy lifestyle" to me and while I'm ALL ABOUT BEING INTENTIONAL, I just seem to find these images  by the connection I feel when .I see them. I put them together and voila, there's my DREAM LIFE! So just hop up on that porch there and take in all the natural beauty and the joy of simple pleasures.

A Dreamy Place To Live
