Charlie enjoyed picking the apples off the tree and eating them right there.
Our favorite apples are the Haralsons which are tart and great for baking as well as eating right off the tree.
The apples arrived home to be baked into apple crisp using my grandmother's BIG mixing bowl. I'm sharing that recipe here. It's simple and not only delicious but fills the house with the most wonderful cinnamon-apple scent! It's one of my favorite fall treats that I look forward to every year.
APPLE CRISP
8 large apples ( cut up )
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Mix sugar and cinnamon and then sprinkle over cut-up apples. Stir to coat all apples with mixture.
Place coated apples in a 9x9 baking pan.
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 oatmeal
1/2 butter
Mix above ingredients and sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.
ENJOY!
