NEW YEAR...DAY TWO

Well, here it is! The second day of the NEW YEAR! The first Monday of the year! Time to get that "Fresh Start" to the new year going!

One of my goals or intentions for the New Year is to DECLUTTER! Which is a challenge when you're trying to collect more and more treasures to sell! If there are any "vintage sellers" reading this with answers to this dilemma, please share! So my first project is going to be...getting all my Hob Nobber and Gwen & Alma's "fun finds" sorted and stored!

I have to keep my Gwen & Alma's treasures kind of out in the open so when something sells, I can snap it up without going through bins trying to find it. I have a room next to the laundry room which, before I opened Gwen & Alma's,  I called my Hob Nobber room. It is where I store the treasures I've collected to sell. And now with the new online store I'm adding MORE finds to this room. It is OVERFLOWING! Sometimes you can't even WALK IN THERE! That does NOT work very well.

So right now this is what I've had for storage: Small Gwen & Alma items I keep in a vintage metal storage cupboard. Larger items go on shelves. Then large furniture items that I usually save for Hob Nobber Sales, have to go in the single garage, which is heated. But the problem is that my husband also wants to fit his golf cart in there for the winter, which takes a lot of maneuvering. And I want to keep the linens upstairs to make sure they stay extra clean. So, yeah, I've got a lot of organizing to do!

Now this ( above ) is practical, but not appealing for my vintage treasures...

This is vintage and I could fit a lot of small items in there. But what to do with the big stuff? And I want to keep it vintage looking and not be expensive. So that's my challenge. Any professional organizers out there?

I'm usually good at organizing but it's hard to get furniture and big stuff together without looking like just a heap of furniture! I want it to look nice! So this may take a long time to complete...I'm going to take some "before" and "after" photos so I'll keep you posted.

VINTAGE STORAGE

  But I haven't forgotten about my vintage friends here on Hob Nobbers. I've been finding some organizing ideas that include rustic charm and shabby chic treasures. Here are some ideas to use ONE old item:

 TOOL BOXES 

Use them for magazines, books, craft supplies, photo storage, mail, folders, crayon holder for the grandkids, in the laundry room for your laundry needs, silverware, old canning jars, and yes flowers and plants...the list is endless! We'll have several of these at are our Labor Day Sale! I'll be showing photos of a few of our items closer to the event so keep following! Thanks for stopping by!

 

A WELL ORDERED LIFE

I've started a new blog called...THE WELL ORDERED LIFE! I've always been an organizer at heart but in the past few years as I began collecting more vintage items, things seemed to be getting a bit out of hand. I don't like clutter but I LOVE vintage treasures! Do these go together? Also, with the arrival of  new baby grandkids we started a collection of toys again so where am I going to put all the toys?

We've retired in the past several years and now our days are not as  structured.  We find that we need to maintain SOME structure in order to stay on top of things. If we don't we get a bit, well...lazy. There...I said it!

So I've found that I need to re-order some things in my life and I started the blog to share ideas about organizing and ordering our lives.  I hope you'll join me  HERE and share your thoughts.

I will also be sharing vintage organizing for my Hob Nobber vintage lovers. I'm finding lots of fun, creative ideas! The vintage wire canning basket with jars above can be set on a casual kitchen table and silverware could actually be "stored" on the table for convenience. I'll try to scout out these gems and put this together to sell  at our Hob Nobber sale in September.

Another creative idea I found is this old doll house which is being used  here as storage in a laundry room. Now if my adult daughter would give up her doll house which is still being stored at OUR house,  I could do this! Or maybe I'll be on the lookout for one when I go hob nobbing for treasures. I also love the old table being used as an ironing board.

So I'm excited to find vintage storage ideas to share as well as ideas on how to order the days of our lives.
