CAROLERS

One of the first things I bring out to decorate for Christmas is my Byer's Choice Carolers collection. I have 30 of them and I buy one or two every year. This year I haven't purchased one yet but it will have to be a husband for Anna, the elderly woman I bought last year. I'll show you who gets the honor of being her husband in a future post.

My grandchildren and I have made families with all the "dolls" beginning with the grandparents, Mina and Mitch, my first purchase.  Anna ( mentioned above ) is a sister to Mitch.

My granddaughters, Ashley and Brianna, gave all the "dolls" names. They began naming them when they were both quite young and the names are so creative, I'm not sure how they came up with these names. We have a Meloshe ( pronounced with a long E and long O ), Lola, Mina, Zoe, Miscoti, Manny, and more.

Carlos, the father here with the rocking horse and loaf of bread, is the son of Mina and Mitch. This is a family photo with his wife, Carla, and children, Lola, Lei, and Jeff. OK I'm not going to bore you with ALL of the families. I'll just share a few photos of these fun little people.

This has been a fun tradition that I share with my granddaughters. When they were young we would turn on Christmas music and the girls would pretend they were conducting the chorus of Carolers. Now they look forward to the newest addition, naming him or her, and deciding what family they belong to.

Now that the Carolers are out, we're ready to get the rest of the decorating started!  Do you have any collections you bring out just at Christmas time?

  2. I have a few carolers that were passed down to us by my MIL, but I don't have any out on display this year. My nutcrackers aren't out either. I put the snowglobes out this year instead. I don't have enough display space for ALL of it at the same time. I really should get some built in bookcases built so I have more flat surfaces... LOL! I just need to pass these things down to my kids and not worry about it.

  3. Hello Sandy,

I really like your holiday blog header.

What a fun tradition you have.

I remember my sister I once having a conversation, the summer after our second and third grades of school, and she said, "No, she knows." And then she exclaimed, "Hey - Nosheno, I am going to name my daughter that when I grow up!"

I remember thinking how I wish I had thought of such a wonderful name and how amazingly smart my little sister was.

Now, all these years later, she has only one child, a daughter, and she did NOT name her Nosheno.

    :)Hope
