I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and 4th of July celebration! We had a fun day! My husband and son went golfing while my daughter-in-law and I took the three grandkids swimming at the Athletic Club. Later we enjoyed a family dinner together, visited my Mom who is going through rehab after shoulder replacement surgery, and then on to the fireworks. Being able to Skype our daughter, son-in-law, and their new adopted baby girl in China made it perfect!
I love the look of tarnished silver. That is one of the elements I'm now gathering for my "new style". Tarnished silver has both a romantic and rustic look at the same time. In my "picking" for treasures I look for lovely pieces of silver that can be repurposed into something fun. Below are several ways to use tarnished silver in your decor.

A pretty way to organize essentials. Here it holds sewing notions in one place. I might even try this one myself! So cute!

and a few of my own silver pieces as shown in the mosaic and below.
This mosaic doesn't do justice to the sweet little silver cups I have but you get the idea. I MUST work on my photography skills! And maybe a new camera? |
Thus far I've only used some little silver cups, goblets, and creamers for small bouquets on Easter. I also planted a little evergreen tree in one which is now outgrowing it's container. I've sold several tarnished silver pitchers and pedestal plates at our sales and now will be looking for more...some for myself and some to sell. Since I've chosen tarnished silver for one of the elements in my new style, I'll be looking for lots more!
I have a Pinterest board for decorating with"Tarnished Silver". Check it out for more ideas by clicking on my Pinterest button on the right sidebar. (And while you're there follow my boards) You can always find these reasonably priced at our sales and you'll love the wonderful patina and "feel" of these little beauties. Aren't they sweet? BONUS: No more polishing necessary!
Do YOU decorate with tarnished silver?

Good morning from Norway. A lovely summer morning too as Summer has finally arrived and l am enjoying my morning coffee outside in the sunshine. So quiet, just a few birds and my children laughing out front. So glad you had a lovely 4th July and skype truly is a blessing when loved ones are far away. I love tarnished silver too! I don't own much silver but found some old 60% silver forks and spoons on the net at a charity shop in bergen, also my mother-in-law gave me some little vases. Beautiful. Blessings, Pam xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect morning! Hugs!
DeleteI have a few silver pieces but it bugs me when they get tarnished. Russell had a cool old spoon that was so bad he never knew what was on it. So i polished it and it's a really cool souvenir spoon from when the Sagamore Bridge opened in the 1930s.
ReplyDeleteSome silver just needs that, doesn't it?
DeleteI love the tarnished silver! My sister decorates her home like this.
