Since moving into the historical mansion we call home, Les and I have become more involved in other historical buildings in our community. Les is now on the board of "Friends Of Mayowood and Other Historical Sites". This group raises money for restoration and updating of furnishings in historical sites. They have also helped with projects at the historical site we live in, The Plummer House. This house is owned by the city and we are Resident Directors here. Mayowood is the former home of Dr. Charlie Mayo who is one of the founders along with his brother, Will, of the world famous Mayo Clinic.
Last Fall there was an open house at Mayowood. Les and I helped out the evening where the "Friends Of Mayowood" had a special evening for members. It was also a Mum show since the Mayo family had always grown Mums and then opened their home to see their display of Mums. I took a few photos...

Many famous people were guests of the Mayos here including Helen Keller, President Roosevelt, and Ed Sullivan. It's exciting to be a part of helping these historic sites remain as beautiful as they were in their hey day!
