VINTAGE TABLECLOTHS AND MORE FUN FINDS

I hope you had a wonderful sunny summer weekend! The summer is flying by! Is it flying by for you as well? Guess we need to get out and enjoy it as often as we can! At least for those of us in Minnesota where we only have it a few months out of the year! I'm trying to take it all in and squeeze every moment out of it!

I'll continue to post some of my finds but remember this is just the tip of the iceberg! We will have thousands of items for sale over Labor Day weekend filling up 7-8 rooms of the Plummer House! Yes, we will be adding yet ANOTHER room this time around! This room will be our Christmas room! Since this event will be the last one for the year we like to offer vintage Christmas decor, including many vintage Christmas tablecloths! More about the Christmas room later!

Here are some fun finds:

Our usual assortment of colorful vintage tablecloths and hankies as seen in this mosaic.

Vintage leather bag, extra large antique pickle jar, hoosier storage round storage jar, lantern,  stoneware bowl.

Here's a closer look:

OCTOBER SNEAK PEEK

A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. Lou Holtz

Just to whet your appetite for treasures to come we'll be giving you a SNEAK PEEK once a month showing you items we've found and will be available at our next event.

I was fortunate to come upon an Estate sale that had lots of Red Wing pottery, stoneware, and yellow ware. I had not seen so much of this in one place as at this sale. I LOVE all these bowls for many reasons. I use them in mixing large amounts of dough as well as sitting on the table filled with fruits of the season to name a couple of uses.

Country Living says, "Yellow Ware is cherished for its charm and durable utility. Yellow ware bowls were staples in 19th and 20th century kitchens." Today these continue to be prized even when well worn and are highly collectible.  The colors I have are yellow and "natural" with blue rims.

The stoneware milk pans or dough pans are much sought after as well. Their rustic look and vintage/antique age make them popular with vintage lovers who love the well worn look. Even chips on the rim are overlooked. These were often caused by women sharpening their knives on the rim which is still possible today after years of use. They are known for their wide rim. I have two of these; one in brown and one "natural" and both are 13 inches in diameter, one of the largest sizes. These are thought to be Red Wing bowls but are unmarked.

I also found a Red Wing bowl in the Reed pattern. It has a 11" diameter and is green in color with vertical ribs. I have one exactly like it that was passed down to me from my Grandmother. I use it all the time for mixing big quantities of goodies like cookie dough. It still looks like new though it has been well used and loved through three generations and dates back to the 1940's. The bowl I have for YOU is in the same pristine condition.  You will LOVE THIS BOWL!

I also purchased several pieces of the  Red Wing  Village Green collection but I'll save those photos for another SNEAK PEEK.
