JULY...THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

July has been way beyond busy!!! Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly!!

We have been living in a mess for over a week now  ( bad ) as workers repair cracks all over the house. This old house cracks all the time so periodically they have to be fixed. Here is what our living room looks like right now and it's not a pretty sight! ( ugly ) All the big pieces of furniture sit in the middle of the room covered in plastic. ( bad )

The little things are being temporarily stored in the bedrooms and back hallway...
The GOOD thing about all this mess is that the house will get painted and I'll finally be getting rid of the UGLY woodwork  that is on one wall in the living room. The whole room will be getting an all white paint job. ( good )

In addition, my Mom had hip replacement surgery and THEN had a hairline hip fracture on top of it! ( bad ) She is now going through rehab.( good ) Here she is with one of our  granddaughters during a recent visit. We visit daily and try to take a grandkid or two with us. Kids always bring a bit of joy with them!

We have season tickets to the Minnesota Twins baseball so we HAVE to go to the games, even in the middle of house messes and my Mom's surgery and hip fracture and eventual rehab. Oh well, it was just one evening and maybe we needed the break. My husband is the fan and I just go along. The tickets are in the Legends Club so at least we can be inside (good) if it's raining or too hot . It was kind of hot the other night so while waiting for the game to begin we sat in the club.
We HAD to get there TWO HOURS BEFORE game time ( UGH! BAD! ) so my husband would be sure and get his FREE BOBBLEHEAD! ( good? ) On the way up to the game we heard on the news that people were camping out and lining up three hours ahead of time to be sure and get their bobblehead! They were only going to give out 10,000! He was getting nervous! ( bad ) He was driving faster! ( REALLY BAD ) We parked and caught the train into the Twin Cities to avoid the rush hour traffic. Another couple waited for the train with us and the wife asked me, " Is he hoping to get a bobblehead?" Hah! How did she know? Clue: Two and a half hours before game time and both of our husbands had on Twins shirts and hats!
YEAH! We made it! We each got a bobblehead!! ( good...I think!) And this was a double bobblehead with TWO guys on it! On the way home on the train we sat by a couple who had large boxes full of bobbleheads. They had purchased them from people for $10 and were going to sell them on eBay for $40! The bobbleheads took up one seat on a cramped and standing room only train! (bad) Anyone want to buy MY bobblehead?

We've been waiting for almost three years  ( bad ) with our daughter and her husband for their adopted daughter from China. She is now in their arms ( SUPER GOOD ) though they still live in China. She is 17 months old and is ADORABLE! Can't seem to get her photo on here now but to see our little sweetie, Gili Noel, go to my "Kuert's Adoption" page and scroll to the bottom.

Our granddaughter, Brianna, was Baptized along with 56 other people in a lake by the church. (VERY GOOD!) Here she is sharing her story before she goes under the water.

All of this happened in the first two weeks of July! I still managed to find a bit of time to hunt for treasures, paint some furniture  and sew some pillows that will be for sale at our Labor Day Hob Nobber sale! Just hope the rest of the month settles down before our company arrives in August!

  4. I LOVE the woodwork around your windows, and the space heater! I've wanted to live in an older house ever since I was....not living in one! I was 10 years old in the last old house I lived in. I envy you!!

  7. Hi Sandy! What a great post! The bobble heads are funny! I like baseball in the summer but I don't like being hot. Oh, I love those stadium hotdogs. Why do they taste so good?

  8. Sandy,

Were you serious about selling your bobble head? My brother lives in Hastings and was unable to attend the game. He is a serious collector and I would love to purchase one as a birthday gift.

Looking forward to your next sale. Hope you have lots of vintage tablecloths!!

  9. Hi sandy
What a great july. Aren't men just so funny when it comes to their sports? I remember going to a mariner's game three hours early so we could get that stupid bobblehead as well---and he wanted to watch the pregame warm ups and stand in line for autographs.
But on the way to the game he would NOT stop to let me pick some flowers along the highway.
