SPENDING MONEY TO MAKE MONEY

The time is fast approaching for our Labor Day sale and I'm not feeling ready! I have more furniture to work on, pillows to finish, linens to wash and press, tags to make and items to clean and refresh! And then there is life to live, if you know what I mean! If I don't get it all done I may have to start selling some things on eBay or Etsy...the things I don't finish, I mean. I've been thinking about doing that anyway, but the shipping part kind of scares me.

In the meantime I still have to keep buying stuff. Which is sometimes hard for me if you can believe it! I know you have to have something to sell in order to make money but I've always been a "saver" so I have to keep encouraging myself to "spend money and buy". Hahaha. Anyone else out there who sells things have this problem or am I the only weird one?

So I'm going to  rephrase the words I use when I buy things to sell, and tell myself how much money I've just MADE instead of SPENT! Instead of thinking, "Aaaaaakkkk! Look at the money I'm spending!", I have to think, "Wow, look at the money I've just made!" But then my "negative brain" will probably say, "Yeah, but you have to SELL it first!" Actually I'm really a much more positive person than that but that "saver" part of me gets in the way sometimes. Nevertheless, I always have lots to sell so here are some things I found this weekend:

VINTAGE TABLECLOTH

VINTAGE JUICE GLASS

STOOL
RED WING PLATE...KICKING MYSELF THAT I DIDN'T BUY THE REST THAT WERE THERE

And this is just the tip of the ice berg! I bought even more than this over the weekend but my pulse was racing as I kept posting these pictures, thinking of all the money I spent! YIKES! LOL. But the truth is that I've learned that the more money I spend, the more money I make. And really, our sales do very well so I really have no need to worry. It's just that "saver" part of me pushing those "old tapes"  into my thoughts. But I'm getting better at not listening all the time. Hah!

If nothing here peaks your interest we have TONS MORE that will be for sale on Labor Day! We have so many treasures that we're opening up yet another room on the second floor!! So you won't want to miss this! No one has left empty handed yet! ; )

  1. It's "crunch" time :) I hope all goes well for you. I love the vintage table cloth, but of course I love and kind of vintage linen. And the Coca-Cola box is great! My grandpa would enjoy that.

    Have a lovely day. Hugs!

  2. Looks like you've been busy "finding"! My favorite are the blue bucket and the Coca cola box! I totally understand what you mean by being a saver and not wanting to spend. I'd have that problem too if I had to spend to make money!

  3. The investment part is always the scariest, but yes, you have to spend in order to make money. Looks like you have some great things, so I wish you all the luck in the world. xo Laura

  6. Oh you have some treasures! I know what you mean about spending, It took me a while, but here is how I handle it. I have an envelope and that is what I purchase product and supplies from. When I get my check every month I take out rent and set it aside and then what is left I can spend. Anything for antiquing, craft fairs, booth items and supplies all comes out of the envelope. Then as my envelope started to over flow I put the over flow in it's own bank account. Now, when I want to do something extravagant like Botox...SSHHHH don't tell anyone, vacations, helping a family member or friend out, etc. that's where the money comes from. Hope that helps. I don't feel bad about spending money because i think of it as belonging to my business not me, and it totally funds it's self

  7. Hi Sandy! I LOVE the vintage tablecloth and the juice glass! Wish I could shop at your sale. Who knows?? I could be in Minnesota in September! But, if I am, it will be later in the month. I do have relatives there I'll be visiting!

  9. Lots of interesting items and also the expression "shop Local" takes on a whole new thought as many of these items seem like they reflect your "local" heritage there!
