MONDAY MORNING JAVA

Do you sometimes wish Christmas would just be over? With all the rushing about, the overwhelming busyness, the myriad details of planning, you might just be looking forward for it all to finally be over. But then you would "miss" Christmas! You would miss out on the joy, the good tidings, even the reason for the season. So don't get caught up in the busyness of the season. Now is the time to slow down and focus on the important stuff...

Here are 7 ways to get more enjoyment out of the busiest season of the year...

1) Keep your focus on the Reason for the Season...The birth of Christ is the real reason behind this holiday. God came to us to save us from ourselves. Keep your focus on Jesus in gratitude.

2) Enjoy each moment, being "fully present" at all times. Move your thoughts out of the past and the future to experience fully each moment in the "Present", your gift to yourself.

3) Give generously. You don't have to be rich to give encouragement, a smile, your time, a hug, a phone call, a hearty "Merry Christmas" etc. Think of the many ways you can be generous this season by giving of yourself in ways that don't cost you a penny but are appreciated just as much or more.

4) Notice the blessings that come your way that are not material in nature. Make a list of them and be grateful for them. For family, friends, the beauty of nature even if it's snowflakes, etc.

5) Don't sweat the small stuff! If you don't get all the cookies made, if Christmas cards don't get out, if you decide to "let go" of a tradition....it. is. OK. Don't sweat it! In the whole scheme of things it is not really important.

6) Take time every day to sit, relax, and enjoy the season. Savor your favorite cup of tea, read a Christmas devotional, look at your decorations, and just notice the beauty and wonder of the season.

7) Play Christmas music when you are home to enliven your Christmas spirit! And don't forget to sing along!

Oh, and one more thing. Check out my Pinterest board, "Christmas: less stress, more joy". The button is on the right sidebar.

  1. Wise words to remember, all the to-do lists can so easily ruin Christmas. Wish you a blessed Christmas, full of the reason for the season. Pam xx
