FIVE FUN AND FABULOUS FINDS FRIDAY

PREPARE FOR THE VINTAGE WEDDING OF YOUR DREAMS...OR YOUR DAUGHTER'S... OR YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER'S...OR HOW ABOUT RENEWING YOUR WEDDING VOWS....

We have the privilege of living in a 49 room historical mansion, part of it pictured here. Well, we don't live in ALL of it! We live in the spacious quarters we lovingly call, "The West Wing" ( only a portion of it pictured here ). We act as Resident Directors and oversee the events that take place here. The main part of the house can be rented and the most popular reason for renting the house is....you guessed it....WEDDINGS!

It is a very magical place for weddings.  The house itself is an English Tudor style mansion taking 7 years to build from 1917 to 1924. It was in its heyday during the ROARING TWENTIES! Built for Dr. Plummer,  his wife, Daisy, and their two children it was the scene for many social events of the day having open houses on Sunday for young doctors at the Mayo Clinic. It is now aptly called, The Plummer House.

There are 11 acres of property ( previously 65 acres ) with woods surrounding the home in the middle of town. It sits on top of a big hill standing out as a landmark in the community. It has a tall "Rapunzel" tower which matches the beauty of the house, beautiful gardens with carefully manicured landscaping, two sparkling ponds with dazzling water fountains, two romantic man made stone staircases leading to the lower gardens, a small man made waterfall, a circle drive at the front door where many a horse-drawn carriage has driven up with bride and groom, a gazebo, a courtyard in back with a stone promenade, and more. The setting is PERFECT for any storybook wedding. Both our son and daughter were married here.

Part of our responsibility is helping the young couples who are planning on having their wedding at the house. We show them what is available, where they can set up, and answer their questions. Often there are so many questions that we feel we are wedding planners as we give advice on the best site on the property for their Big Day, caterer recommendations, etc.! Of course every bride also has their  OWN ideas and we've seen it ALL from a medieval wedding to a dog filling in as ring bearer. We've even helped a few guys who rented the house to propose!

This month ( June ) is ESPECIALLY busy with weddings as you can imagine! So I started thinking about what a VINTAGE WEDDING might look like. Of course that could span several years of time with different decades marking different styles so there many options from which to choose.

For today's FFFFF ( 5F for short ), I will show you 5 favorite little things that would add that nostalgic feel to a bride for her vintage inspired wedding.  It was so much fun looking at what is available, I'm DYING to be a "wedding planner" for a  vintage wedding! Any takers? You could have your wedding AT THE PLUMMER HOUSE! ( see photo above)
