A FEW FUN FINDS

Yesterday I mentioned  the antique auction Les and I went to where we bought a car load and more of furniture and a few smaller pieces. I haven't been able to get photos of everything because it's still kind of packed in our garage but here are a few items I was able to pull out to get photos of. I've also included here some photos of treasures picked up at yard sales. I don't want to show you everything! We like to keep some things as surprises!

These old  buoys are the real thing, pulled out of the ocean near the Florida Keys.

This is a really neat wood box with wire handle and vintage milk carrier.

Teal colored vintage ladder.

"California" Lazy Susan. Love the colors!

Chippy old stool. I might end up painting this.

Great vintage bench!

Very cool red leather swivel chair. I'll be doing some work on this one also!

Sweet little drop-front desk that I will paint. Below is the inside:

J and P Coates Thread advertising display along with thread.

Isn't this a fun street sign? This is something I picked up a while back  ( not off a street corner ) but wanted to show you. Sorry, this won't be for sale. My daughter and son-in-law have dibs on this. They met at a coffee shop and want it for their kitchen...when they move back from China! Holding onto this sign for them actually gives me hope that they ARE moving back!

There is so much more which I'll share in future posts. But of course there are many more treasures that will be SURPRISES! I'll also be showing you some "before and after" photos of refinished furniture as I complete some projects. The sale isn't until Labor Day weekend but we gather inventory all summer. Well, back to the HUNT!

ITEMS FOR SALE ON CRAIGSLIST

HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYONE!
I was planning on taking some time to "recover" from our last sale and to  organize the items I have left. But there were some great yard sales and Estate sales and I just couldn't resist getting out there again! Could this be an addiction? I have lots of great finds I want to show you but that will have to wait a bit! I still have to get the photos on my computer. And I'll have more time beginning next week because summer starts and we won't be caring for our 4 year old grandson. ; (  We've had so much fun with him during the school year while his Mom taught school! Now we're going to miss him! Thankfully he said we could come and visit him!  ; )

I've decided to put some of my furniture that didn't sell at our last sale on Craigslist. I found a lot of amazing pieces, more than I have had in the past. I sold a lot of the furniture but would like to move more out of my garage and make more space for different pieces. Everything is for local pick-up only. Listed under "antiques" is a vintage sewing cabinet. There is no sewing machine but  the wood is beautiful and there are four drawers. This is for sale for $85.

Also for sale is this P. Buckley Moss print, Opera House, that is matted and framed. It is a rare limited edition print which you can check out on the P. Buckley Moss website. I'm selling this for $50.

You'll love this vintage teal colored  chair. It has a wonderful crackled patina on it. Selling for $20. UPDATE: SOLD

I purchased this vintage oak desk at an Estate Sale. I'm selling it for $80.
                      UPDATE: SOLD

                                                                 Top view of desk.

                                                                    Inside the desk.
This vintage coffee table I kept in our "little TV room". The little drawer came in handy for the remote controls.  I found another table to put in there so I'm selling this one for $20. This piece is painted black around the edge and on the legs and stained on top and sides.

Contact me if you're interested and I'll direct you to the Craigslist site where you can get my phone number.

I have a couple more large items that will go on Craigslist as I'm already filling up my Hob Nobber room with NEW projects.  I'll be sharing those here also. And don't forget to stay tuned for my NEW finds which I'll be sharing as soon as I get the photos on the computer.

On Wednesday I'll be sharing how I'm creating my own personal style and how I'm doing it.

BEFORE AND AFTER SALE SET-UP

HOB NOBBER MEMORIAL DAY SALE 2013

BEFORE SET-UP...

BEFORE SET-UP: BOXES ALL OVER...

We had an amazing sale over the weekend! A BIG THANK YOU to all who braved the cold and rain and stood in line for almost an hour to get in the door!

BEFORE SET-UP: BINS ALL OVER

Rain and cold had been predicted all week but I kept hoping it would turn out nice. The weather man isn't ALWAYS right! I thought the yucky forecast might deter some from coming but almost an hour before the sale, there were people in line, three deep, umbrellas overhead and WAITING...IN THE RAIN!  Our customers are hearty folk! And they LOVE a bargain! And we are no different! We do the same when we're out hunting for treasures for our sales! Rain doesn't put a damper on FUN!

BEFORE SET-UP: FURNITURE ALL OVER

As always we worry about whether we have enough inventory! But, as always, we end up having MORE than the last sale! We kind of forget what we've bought until we start unpacking things to clean and tag. We opened up another room in order to have more space for items and also to have a bigger space for checking out. We DO "worry" that the lines our customers have to wait in to check out are so long that they get discouraged.  BUT we DO have a "holding room" where we hold our customers items as they look for more treasures. We had three people working the "holds" this time. It gets CRAZY in there! It's hard to keep up for the first hour and a half! People are quickly handing things off to us and then getting back to finding more stuff! They leave their stuff and their name and we tag it and add it to their "pile". We had a college age girl helping in there because I figured she could handle the fast pace! She was a great help but even SHE commented, "THIS IS STRESSFUL!".  There was confusion when there were two men with the same first and last names! One person took B. C.'s stuff and started a pile and another person took stuff from the OTHER B. C. and put it in the same pile! This pile was getting huge when we started to question it and found out that there were TWO B. C's! What are the odds?

READY FOR THE SALE...

AFTER SET-UP: SMALL LINENS ARE HANGING

QUILTS ARE ON THE VINTAGE RACK

These are just a few of the treasures that were available at our sale. I got so busy I didn't have time to take as many photos as I would have liked. We had more furniture than previously, most of which sold. I wish you all could have been there! We had some great stuff! Some great pieces that were hard for me to let go! But I can't keep everything!

So I'm taking a few days off to rest and then it's onto shopping for our next sale over Labor Day weekend!

MORE FURNITURE!

Hi! My name is Sandy and I am a furniture addict!  I MUST be! Whenever Les and I go shopping for Hob Nobber treasures I tell him adamantly, " And NO furniture!" But before that even FINISHES coming out of my mouth, there I am buying yet another piece of furniture! I CAN'T HELP IT! I find such nice pieces at such amazing prices which we then pass on to you! I can't help myself! So I guess I must be addicted. But MY addiction can be YOUR next treasure!  : )   So here are some pieces you'll find at our next event!

                                                         AN OLD OAK CUPBOARD

OLD DESK WITH SHELVING    ( oops, left a little string on there )

THIS IS A PHOTO OF INSIDE THE DESK

RUSTIC SHABBY HIGH CHAIR

AND THERE'S EVEN MORE ( but you'll have to come to our next event to see ... )

The reason I always say " no more furniture" is that there is always the hassle of getting it home ( of course we never bring the trailer  because I'm not going to buy more furniture, right? ), finding yet MORE storage spaces ( I'm running out ), and then getting it over to the sale ( our aching backs )!

So I hope you'll help Les out and buy some of this stuff so he doesn't have to haul it all home again! : )
