VINTAGE CHAIR

I've been finding some great treasures for our upcoming sale! I just wanted to share with you this sweet little vintage chair I purchased at an Estate Sale. The owner said it was  made of "curly maple" wood. It has a lovely old patina. It also has a beautifully embroidered seat that is in excellent condition. You won't have to do ANYTHING to this cute little chair except take it home and let it add beauty to the perfect space in your home.

LATEST FINDS

So here are the "latest finds" I promised to show you. I wish I had the time to set up cute little vignettes with all these treasures.( Actually decorating and setting up vignettes is one of my favorite parts of being a " Hob Nobber"...after the "hunting" part, of course.) But my Hob Nobber room is full to the brim with stuff  and I can hardly get in there so you'll have to just IMAGINE the treasures in a cute little setting! But I like  to give you  sneak peeks of what's to come so here they are...just by themselves in a photo.

Gorgeous three drawer section to a vintage sewing machine

Vintage wooden buoy found in Florida

Colorful vintage curtains now hanging in my Hob Nobber room. 6 panels of them

Six adorable antique children's folding chairs. But I might have to keep some for my grandkids.

Seven 1940's cards used in keeping track of bridge scores. But you could use them for whatever your imagination comes up with.

Oops! I thought I turned this one around. Don't have time now... Well, it's a tablecloth on the right and two little "dress shaped" potholders on the left.

Vintage sled from Germany purchased from a couple who just returned from having lived there for 35 years. How cute is that?

Large enamel pot

Lovely blue quilt

AND THERE IS SOOOO MUCH MORE TO COME!

MAKING AN INCOME DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

There are so many amazing vintage style blogs out there but one of my favorites is Raised In Cotton. Started by three women who began selling their vintage finds at local antique shops, they then opened a shop of their own. With success at THIS endeavor they went on to start another related business offering the rental of vintage treasures for special occasions and events  as well as offering design services. I LOVE that they have taken their mutual passions and turned it into not ONE but THREE business'! They are a great example of being able to make money doing what you love.

HOB NOBBERS  ( You'll have to search past posts to find the REAL Hob Nobbers )
I have found that this is possible also! Karen, Renee, and I started Hob Nobbers in just the same way. We all had a passion in this area and started out small by renting a room for a fundraising event for Community Youth Outreach, a program I founded and directed. The event went on for two days but we ran out of "inventory" the first day! We sent Karen home to drag everything out of her attic as she had been a collector for some time and had a stash of beautiful treasures. Everyone wanted to know where our "store" was but we didn't have one! We continued this for a few years until I "retired" ( one never really RETIRES from this type of work ) from the youth ministry  at which time we decided to have a sale of our own. That again was so popular that we decided to grow and instead of ONE room we filled up the main floor of a local historical mansion! My husband and I happen to LIVE in this mansion ( well, part of it ) as Resident Directors. After a few yearly successful occasional sales we grew to have three occasional sales a year. We have a long line of people waiting to get in before our events begin. It becomes a three family affair as all of our families pitch in to set up, man the tables, and help carry heavy furniture to the cars of happy customers. We all have a great time and feel like we're having a two day party! The fun part is when someone gets excited finding a much  loved object they remember from their childhood!

My point in sharing these stories is that if you have a passion, you CAN find a way to turn it into a business. We're not talking about getting RICH here but it is SO MUCH FUN being able to do what you love and then gaining from it in more ways than one!

Check out some of the blogs that are MY FAVORITES on the right sidebar and see for yourself the many ways women are finding to make an income doing what they love! I get inspired myself just looking at all the creativity out there! Then go click on the site I mentioned above.

GET READY FOR THE BIG SALE!

I've been away from my blog for a while as I've been working on another project which you'll be hearing about in the coming weeks. And then I had a setback because while carrying my two year old grandson, I tripped and fell on his battery operated car that he uses to drive all over our house. I had gashes in my leg requiring 10 stitches and pulled a muscle in my right arm leaving me unable to use my  arm without quite a bit of pain along with many more bruises. I looked like and felt like I had been hit by a REAL car! Fortunately my grandson didn't end up with even a scratch or bruise on him and wasn't even that frightened by it all. He just looked at me and said," Gramma go BOOM!"

Anyway, in addition to my newest project ( which I'll share in the future ) I'm working on collecting treasures for our upcoming Memorial Day Sale. The days and times for the event will be Sunday, May 29th, 12-5 and Monday, May 30th , 9-5. We've been finding many fun and interesting treasures so be sure to come and invite your friends. Monday we will put out new items so be sure to visit BOTH days!

I've decided to part with my beautiful urn that I wrote about in another post. It's over 100 years old and in mint condition! Here's a photo of it. Oops, the little baby on the right will not be for sale.

Also for sale will be this vintage ( antique?) bench from St Mary's Hospital! A fun historical piece that you'll love to have in your home!

In the coming days I'll be sharing more photos of the treasures we'll have for sale so stay tuned!

BACHMAN'S FALL IDEA HOUSE

Pumpkin Man holding basket of apples.
Outdoor fireplace with pumpkins
Garden Hose made into a wreath.
"Window" with hot peppers
It was time for another outing with my good friend from high school, Christy! We met up at the Fall Idea House at Bachmans. The house took on the warm colors of Fall with  fun and whimsical old primitives repurposed into delightful decor! I took so many photos I'm going to break them up into two parts. Today, part one,  I'm sharing  some of the colorful and whimsical Fall decorations. In another post I'll share all the creative ways they repurposed" found items" into household treasures!

If you're near the Twin Cities in Minnesota you will want to stop in and see the unique ways they "refreshed" old items into useful furnishings. You can even purchase the one- of -a -kind vintage treasures!
